At On The Edge Farms, we believe that great food starts with respect—respect for the animal, respect for the land, and respect for the families who eat what we raise.
We are a small family operation in Buckley, WA, located right on the edge where the town meets the wild. We aren’t trying to be the biggest farm, and we certainly aren’t trying to get rich. Our goal is simple: raise the highest quality pork and eggs possible, and sell them to our neighbors at a fair price.
1. Pasture-Raised & Happy
We believe pigs should act like pigs and chickens should act like chickens.
- Our Pigs: They don’t live on concrete slabs. They live outside on fresh pasture where they can root, run, and forage. This active lifestyle and diverse diet creates pork that is deeply red, marbled, and rich in flavor—completely different from the “white meat” pork you find in the grocery store.
- Our Chickens: Our hens forage daily while remaining safe from predators, primarily hawks in our case. We strive to keep them healthy and happy. You can see the difference in our eggs immediately: the yolks are a deep, vibrant orange, standing tall in the pan.
- In fact we care so much about chicken health, our primary income is from Barn Analytics where we focus intently on chicken health.
2. Uncompromised Food Safety
We take food safety as seriously as we take flavor. While some farms might cut corners with processing to save money, we never do. Every pound of pork you buy from us is processed by fully licensed and inspected facilities (USDA or WSDA).
- Professional Processing: We partner with top-tier local butchers who adhere to strict safety and sanitation standards.
- Peace of Mind: You can trust that the meat feeding your family was handled with the utmost care from our field to your freezer.
3. A Fair Price for Real Food
Farming this way costs more. Good feed, professional processing, and slower growth rates on pasture add up. But we believe healthy, local meat shouldn’t be a luxury item reserved for the ultra-wealthy.
We price our shares to cover our costs and sustain the farm for next year’s harvest. When you buy from us, you aren’t paying for corporate overhead or marketing campaigns—you are paying for the feed, the care, and the quality on your plate.
Thank you for supporting local agriculture. — The Perry Family
